HQCB Color Heart Challenge #4 using a Dark Blue Heart and lots of dark blue on project

Heartfelt greetings, crafters! Welcome to the HQCB Color Heart Challenge #4!

Join me on this quest to see a dark blue heart on your entry PLUS it needs to have a lot of dark blue color shades used in it, too. (keep the percentage to 60-99% dark blue)

This challenge runs from 12:30am Central time/Chicago or 6:30am UK on May 28, 2022 and will end at the same time stated on June 13, 2022.

Color Heart Challenge #4:

*have a dark blue heart shape

AND

*use lots of dark blue shades of color on the project

The Color Heart Challenges since #2 have changed slightly from # 1 and #2 and I hope they are changes for the better and make it easier for a wide range of craft formats and skill levels. There are rules to review in the sidebar.

I've also created a Facebook group for HQCB and FQCB fans called:

Heart's Quest and FarmQuest Challenge Blogs Fans Group.

And if that isn't enough, there is a page option for a new HQCB Valentine's Day Cards Challenge Theme. Look in the sidebar to access that. Won't that be fun to get at least one Valentine's card made each month to get completed ahead of the special day!!!

Welcome, Guest Designer Deanne Clarke-Saunders!!!! She's creatively brilliant and always has such fabulous projects! She's supported both HQCB and FQCB from day 1 which means a lot to me. Let's read what has made her heart happy:

My name is Deanne Saunders. My hubby and I live in Paradise,
Newfoundland Canada. I was an elementary teacher for 23 years but retired early. I am now an Early Childhood Educator (couldn’t stay away from the kiddies!!). I have always enjoyed playing with paper, scissors, glue, and ESPECIALLY crayons and pencil crayons, ever since I’ve been a small child. I just couldn’t stop playing, so I continued by scrapbooking and card-making! I love it!!! My hubby calls me a paper hoarder. He just MAY be right, but I’d never tell him that!!! A man doesn’t need to know he’s right!!! Haha!

Deanne's amazing card:

What a terrific card for a rock-n-roll enthusiast!!! Indeed! Let's all rock on and look for dark blues in our stash supplies that will help you put your creative spin interpretation on Color Heart #4 challenge using dark blue color tones.

_____________

Inspiration project #1 from HQCB owner, Becca S--dark blues birthday card=

A scrap of a white and black buffalo plaid patterned paper from The Paper Studio was altered with a dark blue marker to fill color over the solid white parts. Navy blue pearls accent the plaid and 1 on the heart. A 2001 Stampin' Up birthday stamp for the simple sentiment. An old patterned paper scrap with a teal background and 2 dark blue 'flowers' was selected to cut out the heart. The blue background paper and black cardstock base are also old scraps. Simply sweet.

HQCB Reminder Post for Love Theme #3 Show Love for a Male Relative or Friend

Heart's Quest Love Theme #3 Reminder Post

This competition period started May 14, 2022 and will end at 12:30am CST/Chicago on May 27th, 2022.

Acceptable project formats include: cards/ATCs, bookmarks/tags, journals/TN spreads, and/or scrapbook layouts. The 2 requirements for Love Theme #3 are:

*include the word 'love' or a form of it like loves, loved, loving (or another language equivalent such as amore, Coeur,...) AND

*image of a male (any age; clipart/digital image, stamp image, photo, etc.)

That's it. You pick the project format, layout, colors, supplies, and more. With high school and college graduations, USA's Father's Day in June, weddings, birthdays, etc. all of us should have a special guy to be honored.

Go on a supply quest in your stash and see what you can put together.

For the reminder post inspiration project, I used a clipart image from Clipart Library website printed as black and white on soft yellow paper to which I added some orange and magenta/fuchsia marker highlights. "With Love" and a repeated banner stamp were added to a panel of inks blended on white cardstock along with a heart traced and cut from an old patterned paper. Also an old border sticker fits perfectly with these bright cheerful colors. Soft yellow and kraft cardstocks layers complete the flat card.

A Grandpa walking with his grandson card=

Love ya inspiration card #2= such a charming fellow----->

Some of my treasure finds for card #2 are: The dark reddish brown stripe is a very old The Paper Studio print. It was cut and stenciled using a old Pebbles Stencil set that's about 12 years old. The jolly guy black and white image is from Clipart Library website. Ink blending/dabbing and smooshing with a makeup sponge was applied to white cardstock for the top background layer.

Now it's your turn to search your craft supplies and create some paper-crafting love for a special guy. Use the Inlinkz tool address to submit your project(s). Acceptable formats are mentioned in the rules located on this blog's sidebar. There are a wide range. They don't have to be cards. You could do a scrapbook layout, a bookmark, an ATC, etc.

HQCB Love Theme #3 to show love for a male friend or relative starts 14 May 2022

Heart's Quest Challenge Blog is in search of projects that indicate love for a special guy in your life.

With a grateful heart let's learn more about this new quest.

 HQCB's Love Theme #3 has 2 requirements:

(1) use the word love (another language equivalent or a verb tense like loves, loved, or loving are acceptable)

 AND

(2) a male figure/image (any age of boy/man; can be doing something; can be photo, digital image, stamp, etc.)

Love Theme #3 starts May 14, 2022 and ends on May 27th with times of 12:30am CST/Chicago or 6:30am UK for both dates. If you live in other time zones, please adjust accordingly. I've given you these two to help you figure that out.

This competition period, the very talented Jeannette Cloyd has agreed to be a Guest Designer. Here is a bit of info about her life and creative endeavors:

Hello. I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to be a guest designer for Becca’s Heart’s Quest Love Theme #3 challenge. First, I’m excited because it allows me to support my friend with her challenge blog. Second, I’m excited about the theme – love and men. What a great way to get me out of my creative box since I rarely make masculine cards. Third (I had to have three; it’s my favorite number), it’s always exciting to take a piece of paper, a stamp or two, and some ink… and see what happens. Most evenings after my son has gone to bed and my husband is lounging in his recliner with a good book, you’ll find me in my Play Room doing just that – playing with paper, stamps, and ink. You’ll find my cards on my blog – cre8tiveplay.com – as well as on Facebook (Jeanette Cloyd) and on Instagram (jeanettecloyd).

Isn't this fantastic for LOVE THEME #3?!!?!!! Such a charming card!!

This is my inspiration project #1 that will be going to my cousin's son who is battling cancer. His cancer diagnosis and birth of his first son/child came about the same time 15 months ago. I want to send this to him to encourage him to grow older with his son and have those times with his little boy on his lap.

With love card #1=

Credits: Hampton Arts for the stamps; background paper had 4 colors of ink applied with a sponge; image is free and available at Clipart Library website; lime green chevron paper is from The Paper Studio.

HQCB Reminder Color Heart Challenge #3 in Orange Post

 REMINDER:

It's about halfway in the 13 days of HQCB's Color Heart Challenge #3 using Orange!

Competition started April 28, 2022 and ends May 13, 2022 at 12:30am CST/Chicago or 6:30am UK.

There are 2 easy requirements:

*include at least 1 heart shape in orange

AND

*have a lot of orange color in your project

Acceptable formats are: bookmarks/tags, journals/TN spreads, scrapbook layouts, and/or cards/ATCs.

These options will give you plenty of creative opportunities to take a quest looking for orange papers and embellishments in your stash. Or like a few of mine--take a white, pink, or red item and use ink or paint to make it a tone or shade of orange.

AND did you see Guest Designer Lori Barrett-Stroup's wonderful 'Dreamsicle' scrapbook layout? It's on the original Color #3 posting. Use the link shown towards the bottom of this post. You don't want to miss it.

****************************

REMINDER Inspiration Project made by yours truly, Becca, HQCB owner

On this large tag (with 3 tags in one), the Heidi Swapp sentiment watercolor paper heart tag started as white, the butterfly was white, and several 'white' spaces on the turquoise floral print had a couple of different oranges applied to it.

Notes: first, disregard the blue background copy paper because I use my computer printer scanning function and the blue paper blocks the light. Heart tag (Heidi Swapp). Under the heart tag is a circular watercolor tag in orange/terracotta tones (Hampton Arts). The turquoise and white floral print paper is so old I don't remember who made it. The 3 enamel dots are from Craft Consortium's "Bluebells and Buttercups" collection.

This tag is going to my sister, I think. She's got a late May birthday, so I can hopefully get it in the mail so she can get it on time. (fingers crossed!!!)

==>To build blog followers and participant entries, I will offer a prize to the #5 and #10 entries!!!!

Odds are if you enter the max of 3 times or even enter 2 projects, you might get #5 or #10. Love theme #2 ending April 27th reached its first ever 3rd, 4th, and 5th entries in the days prior, so #5 is getting a prize. I realize starting a new challenge blog takes time to gain 'membership' but it doesn't hurt to have an incentive motivation to help keep the deadline in your thoughts.

Make sure to copy and paste the blog badge found on the left sidebar to put on your blogs, please.

Top 3 Color Pursuit Achievers will be selected after competition closes in the early hours of May 13, 2022.

Use this Color Heart Challenge #3 original posting link to take you back for access to the Inlinkz tool address=

AND look on the HQCB blog site sidebar for a page link for another opportunity to participate between April 28-May 13, 2022 with the brand new Valentine's Day Card challenge!!! This is the very first one and will only be offered each month for a 13 day period.

<3<3<3<3<3

On your Valentine's Day card, have either a heart shape, heart word, or the word love AND a doily. The If you use the word heart or love, it can be altered like "heartfelt" or "I heart you" or "Loving you is easy", etc. The doily can be a crocheted doily, a paper doily, a die-cut looking doily, an image of a doily, etc.
