HQCB REMINDER Color Heart #6 Photo Inspired Multicolor Hearts in Grid Format

Wow! Welcome to Heart's Quest REMINDER midway post for Color Heart Theme #6!!

Competition started July 28 and ends August 13, 2022.

GD Lori Barrett-Stroup and I shared inspiration projects on the main post and we're returning for this reminder posting. Take a look.

Sweet. Cute. Giving lots of love vibes!

https://loriannie670.blogspot.com/2022/08/hugs-kisses-hearts-quest-challenge-blog.html

Check out Lori's personal blog posting about products and techniques used.

Excellent craftsmanship, Lori!

The theme is based on this photo (credit details on the main post):

I would like to see 2 or more colors/prints of hearts in a grid format of some kind. The heart colors don't have to be reds or pinks unless that's what you want to use.

and a different approach=

HQCB owner Becca's project #1 with reddish-pink tonal hearts and dark brown hearts set up in rows and columns on this card=

About 2.5 hours to make this card and I think it was well worth it! I lined up two very old alphabet stencils side by side for the 8.5" wide gray cardstock. I traced each letter/number and then selected 10 colored pencils to rotate on the left side first and then continued to the top of the right section but in a reverse order. The tonal burgundy print hearts are from an old scrap paper and the brown hearts are from a textural specialty paper. Add on the base, the glitter tape, and the hexagon "love" by Remarks/American Crafts.

HQCB Color Heart #6 Photo Challenge 2 or more colors of hearts in a grid starts 28 July 2022

 Heartfelt Greetings!

Heart's Quest Challenge Blog Color Heart #6 Theme competition is July 28-August 13, 2022. The start time and end time on these 2 dates will be 12:30am CT/Chicago or 6:30am UK

I've decided to mix things up a bit and will provide this craft photo by Dinah Wulf shared at DIY Inspired for you to interpret in your own way. I'd like to see some kind of hearts (simple or complex) in a grid format using 2 or more colors. Are you intrigued? You don't have to use red or pink however I want to see 2 or more hues/tones/shades in a grid format.

How will you interpret this theme?

To inspire you, Guest Designer Lori Barrett-Stroup and I have projects to share and each is unique. I did a card and GD Lori has a TN layout.

Lori is a super talented and very busy scrapbooker and cardmaker. HQCB is honored to have her sharing her Color Heart #6 interpretation as the Guest Designer.

Isn't that a cute photo!?!!! And the pattern mix is a wonderful blend of colors and prints! Did you catch that her grid hearts are stitched in place!!! How cool! And the left side even has more hearts! Perfect for Heart's Quest, don't you think?!!! Absolutely fabulous!

a few design notes with vendors: plaid cardstock panel is from Pink Paislee's Together for Christmas paper pad; white scalloped flat card base with matching envelope are from The Paper Studio; the gold metallic foil dazzle "congratulations!" is from Paper Wishes website; that is outlined by a fine tip black pen; plaid is edged in black ink while the card base is in red ink. Red and amber heart gems have been in my stash for a long time.

Using the plaid cardstock plus glue-backed heart gems made crafting a grid format super easy!

Deadline is July 27, 2022 at 12:30 am Central Time/Chicago or 6:30am UK.

LOVE Theme #5 required duo elements are:

*use the word 'love' or a version like loves, loving, agape, charity, etc.

AND

*use an image related to travel or transportation; can be a destination like lake, amusement park, cruise ship, etc. or a vehicle or something to help with travel/transporting like luggage, passport, postcard, etc.

Guest Designer for the REMINDER is = Karen Letchworth

GD inspiration project =

Isn't this terrific!!! The sentiment is perfect! Having 'love' printed on the little tag that is clipped within the cording of the other tag is such clever placement. The little travel camper die-cut is too cute! Wouldn't this be fun to have displayed inside your camper on future trips!!! The tags make me think of luggage tags! Karen's made a very lovely card for Love Theme #5!!!

Thanks so very much!

A bit of bio about Karen= She's also GD for FarmQuest's reminder post also published today on July 20th. Word Art Wednesday challenge blog is administered by Karen and she participates with several other challenge blogs, products, and groups. Her distinctive layering and clustering of embellishments has made me a huge fan of her creations! She's blessed with a lot of talent!

And her personal crafting blog (direct link to a July 18th post) is called My Cup Runneth Over

a few credits for the mini slimline card are: mesh, wood flip flops, and wood fish were bought at Dollar Tree; there are 2 blue scraps from my stash; and the patterned papers are reverse sides of the same sheet from the Lake Life paper pad by Fancy Pants Design (2019).

My included elements:
*love was written in on the text patterned cardstock section

and

*travel/transport items are the fishing lures print cardstock, the word 'lake', use the flip flops for walking at the lake or maybe boating; and a fish with some mesh/faux net for more water locations/destinations like a lake, pond, creek, ....

With a heart overflowing in gratitude, for my mom's older sister and brother-in-law that took me and my sister along with their 3 boys (our cousins) camping in a pickup truck bed with loft space on top of the cab style camper to a state park!!! We got to take turns going out in their small row boat to fish! That was many, many years ago! What a sweet memory traveling about an hour away from where we lived to spend a couple of days near the lake!

HQCB REMINDER Color Heart Theme #5 using Red

Is your heart happy about HQCB's Color Heart Theme #5?

Have you made a mostly red project using at least 1 red heart shape?

And did you know you can create a total of 3 new themed projects for 1 challenge time period at Heart's Quest?

Deadline is 12:30am Central Time/Chicago on July 13, 2022.

Guest Designer for the REMINDER post is Dottie Seubert. She's super talented! Dottie recently was Guest Designer for my other challenge blog FarmQuest. She's been a past DT member of Word Art Wednesday challenge blog. And this is her personal blog to see more of her wonderful creations=

https://somethingcraftybydottie.blogspot.com/

GD inspiration project=

Dottie's detailed card would be perfect for someone's engagement announcement, wedding, anniversary, or to give to your spouse whether on Valentine's Day or just to make a day special for that partner. She's packed lots of great embellishments to interest, color, texture, and depth. Her choice of patterned paper has lots of red hearts and her clips, ribbon, and some enamel dots add in more red. Awesome!

Owner, Becca S, inspiration project=

A few noteworthy credits: Sum More Fun/Raisin Boat stamps (center heart was open and I used a red glitter paint pen to fill); red and white floral patterned paper panel is from the Mint Berry Paper Pad from The Paper Studio. I'm trying to bash that paper pad in 2022. I still have lots of 4.5" x 6.5" size sheets to go.

HQCB Color Heart Theme #5 use red heart and mostly red starts 28 June 2022

Hello! Heartfelt greetings from Heart's Quest Challenge Blog!

It's reveal time for the theme called Color Heart #5. #5's required color is red.

*use a red heart shape

AND

*have 60-99% red usage throughout the project

June 28, 2022 to July 13, 2022

Competition starts at 12:30am Central time/Chicago which is 6:30am UK.

Competition ends at same time on July 13.

A midway reminder post will also be made to help crafters remember to go on their stash quests to discover what and how they can use red.

Acceptable formats cover most paper-crafting formats: cards, ATCs, tags, bookmarks, journals/planners, TN spreads, and various scrapbook layout sizes and types!

For design inspiration, Guest Designer is Pamela Hecht.

Pamela's creative processes:

a. her greeting card has a gel print created with acrylic paints

b. red polka dot washi tape and paper stencil tape were added on the side along with twine

c. words, large red ink stenciled heart with red glitter were the finishing touches

Some personal info:

I became acquainted online with Pamela earlier this year when another online crafting friend suggested I join a FB group set up as a card and ATC only making swap group. (For The Love of Cards--it's limited to 25 members and it's not capped out yet, so if interested, come and join the group). In just a short time, Pamela's impressed me with her creative ideas that she morphs into the tiny size ATCs. Here's more about her that she shared with me =

Pamela Hecht: has lived for 20 years in the Upper Michigan Peninsula on an island known for its past copper mining. Pamela and her husband are now retired but are still very busy. They love to travel and collect minerals, fossils, and stones. They still own their breakfast café which has a craft market space where she sells her artistic work. Pamela stays active in paper arts, collage, photography, nature jewelry, metalsmithing, encaustic and acrylic painting. Her heart's happy when she can inspire others through her art and also loves to teach others to discover and develop their art skills.

She does not have a blog or Instagram account but is on Facebook and co-owner/administrator of For The Love of Cards group.

Since she's not a blogger, I have permission to show these 2 photos of her more fantastic artistry:

acrylic painting on driftwood

first oil painting created on June 25th at a workshop with Steve Ross, son of famous Bob Ross!!! The session was 6 hours. Pretty amazing, isn't it?!?!!!

Owner/Becca S design inspiration project is a new TN with the 1st spread=

This Scripture passage was day 1 of May suggested Bible writing journaling prompt from FB group CCMWF. The sketch layout is from Lisa H with TN Times May 2022. The usage of washi tape (light blue with white dots) and circles is Lori's requirement with TN Times May 2022. HQCB's requirements of red heart and usage of red just seemed to be a perfect way to connect all these pieces. Credits: Scripture~images.com website for the verse photo image; poppy patterned paper is from the Mint Berry paper pad by The Paper Studio; gray and white checked gingham paper is from Hot Off The Press. Light blue ribbon-like washi tape's packaging was unmarked. TN insert is by Carta Bella/Bloom. More details on my blog.

HQCB PAST DUE REMINDER POST for Color Heart #4 using dark blue challenge SEE GD card

Failed REMINDER post for HQCB's Color Heart #4 challenge using dark blue

Competition ended early on June 13, 2022. I failed to post this on June 6th.

Theme requirements are:

*use at least 1 dark blue heart shape (sometimes called navy blue or midnight blue)

AND

*use 60-99% of mid-dark blues on the rest of the project

To inspire you to create your own Color Heart #4 projects is this LOVEly card made by Guest Designer Kelly Sullins-Joehrs. Kelly's been an online crafting friend for many years and I'm so heart happy to have her support with HQCB (and FQCB, too)!

Didn't I say it was LOVEly??!!!!

Kelly's a professional real estate broker in Florida and her cards can be seen regularly in lots of groups. Thanks Kelly for this awesome dark blue heart/love card! Isn't that patterned cardstock perfect?!!!

<3  **  <3  *  <3  **  <3

HQCB owner Becca's inspiration project for the reminder posting=

This is my inspiration project #2-- navy blue tag=

The blue border oval tag's middle 'white' line was changed to dark blue with a marker. Same thing with the black and white cording that came with the tags (multi-color edged tags from Hampton Arts). A blue ink pad was used to ink the outside edge of the tag and the cardstocks.  The large heart started out as red and has had 2 different dark blue markers applied to it along with a mid-blue glitter paint pen. The navy blue gingham scrap comes in 6" squares in a 2 different color sets by Hot Off The Press (available from Paper Wishes website). A messy project for the cording and the foam heart makeover but for a small tag, it will look cute hanging from an upper cabinet door knob.

Did you see the V3 or <3 to make a sideways heart?

Please note: I failed to get this posted on June 6th. I did a personal post about my tag, but failed to show Kelly's card. This my fault. My humblest apologies to Kelly.

Inspiration Project #1 by HQCB owner, Becca S:

Just a bit wider of the most common slimline sized cards I placed a star stencil on white cardstock and stamped with red and blue ink pads then the panel was edged with more red ink. The USA flag's stars were cut from hot dog paper holders found at Dollar Tree!!! YES!! Can you believe that?! The mid-blue tone cardstock is the base 4" x 6". My 2nd card further down the posting uses the large size Love Stars freebie image------->

Two freebie images I created several weeks after selecting this theme which you may download and save in 2 sizes:

"Love Stars Fill the Sky"

I hope you love these as much as I do.

Inspiration project #2 uses the larger Love Stars freebie image=

Welcome, Guest Designer Deanne Clarke-Saunders!!!! She's creatively brilliant and always has such fabulous projects! She's supported both HQCB and FQCB from day 1 which means a lot to me. Let's read what has made her heart happy:

My name is Deanne Saunders. My hubby and I live in Paradise,
Newfoundland Canada. I was an elementary teacher for 23 years but retired early. I am now an Early Childhood Educator (couldn’t stay away from the kiddies!!). I have always enjoyed playing with paper, scissors, glue, and ESPECIALLY crayons and pencil crayons, ever since I’ve been a small child. I just couldn’t stop playing, so I continued by scrapbooking and card-making! I love it!!! My hubby calls me a paper hoarder. He just MAY be right, but I’d never tell him that!!! A man doesn’t need to know he’s right!!! Haha!

Deanne's amazing card:

What a terrific card for a rock-n-roll enthusiast!!! Indeed! Let's all rock on and look for dark blues in our stash supplies that will help you put your creative spin interpretation on Color Heart #4 challenge using dark blue color tones.

_____________

Inspiration project #1 from HQCB owner, Becca S--dark blues birthday card=

A scrap of a white and black buffalo plaid patterned paper from The Paper Studio was altered with a dark blue marker to fill color over the solid white parts. Navy blue pearls accent the plaid and 1 on the heart. A 2001 Stampin' Up birthday stamp for the simple sentiment. An old patterned paper scrap with a teal background and 2 dark blue 'flowers' was selected to cut out the heart. The blue background paper and black cardstock base are also old scraps. Simply sweet.

HQCB Love Theme #3 to show love for a male friend or relative starts 14 May 2022

Heart's Quest Challenge Blog is in search of projects that indicate love for a special guy in your life.

With a grateful heart let's learn more about this new quest.

 HQCB's Love Theme #3 has 2 requirements:

(1) use the word love (another language equivalent or a verb tense like loves, loved, or loving are acceptable)

 AND

(2) a male figure/image (any age of boy/man; can be doing something; can be photo, digital image, stamp, etc.)

Love Theme #3 starts May 14, 2022 and ends on May 27th with times of 12:30am CST/Chicago or 6:30am UK for both dates. If you live in other time zones, please adjust accordingly. I've given you these two to help you figure that out.

This competition period, the very talented Jeannette Cloyd has agreed to be a Guest Designer. Here is a bit of info about her life and creative endeavors:

Hello. I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to be a guest designer for Becca’s Heart’s Quest Love Theme #3 challenge. First, I’m excited because it allows me to support my friend with her challenge blog. Second, I’m excited about the theme – love and men. What a great way to get me out of my creative box since I rarely make masculine cards. Third (I had to have three; it’s my favorite number), it’s always exciting to take a piece of paper, a stamp or two, and some ink… and see what happens. Most evenings after my son has gone to bed and my husband is lounging in his recliner with a good book, you’ll find me in my Play Room doing just that – playing with paper, stamps, and ink. You’ll find my cards on my blog – cre8tiveplay.com – as well as on Facebook (Jeanette Cloyd) and on Instagram (jeanettecloyd).

Isn't this fantastic for LOVE THEME #3?!!?!!! Such a charming card!!

link for Jeannette's blog posting for details on how she made this card = https://www.cre8tiveplay.com/2022/05/hearts-quest-guest-designer.html

This is my inspiration project #1 that will be going to my cousin's son who is battling cancer. His cancer diagnosis and birth of his first son/child came about the same time 15 months ago. I want to send this to him to encourage him to grow older with his son and have those times with his little boy on his lap.

With love card #1=

Credits: Hampton Arts for the stamps; background paper had 4 colors of ink applied with a sponge; image is free and available at Clipart Library website; lime green chevron paper is from The Paper Studio.

Now it's your turn to search your craft supplies and create some paper-crafting love for a special guy. Use the Inlinkz tool address to submit your project(s). Acceptable formats are mentioned in the rules located on this blog's sidebar. There are a wide range. They don't have to be cards. You could do a scrapbook layout, a bookmark, an ATC, etc.

Link-up your project photo/blog link for Love Theme #3 before May 27th at 12:30am CST

Participants may enter 3 new themed projects per challenge.
