HQCB Color Heart Theme #5 use red heart and mostly red starts 28 June 2022

Hello! Heartfelt greetings from Heart's Quest Challenge Blog!

It's reveal time for the theme called Color Heart #5. #5's required color is red.

*use a red heart shape

AND

*have 60-99% red usage throughout the project

June 28, 2022 to July 13, 2022

Competition starts at 12:30am Central time/Chicago which is 6:30am UK.

Competition ends at same time on July 13.

A midway reminder post will also be made to help crafters remember to go on their stash quests to discover what and how they can use red.

Acceptable formats cover most paper-crafting formats: cards, ATCs, tags, bookmarks, journals/planners, TN spreads, and various scrapbook layout sizes and types!

For design inspiration, Guest Designer is Pamela Hecht.

Pamela's creative processes:

a. her greeting card has a gel print created with acrylic paints

b. red polka dot washi tape and paper stencil tape were added on the side along with twine

c. words, large red ink stenciled heart with red glitter were the finishing touches

Some personal info:

I became acquainted online with Pamela earlier this year when another online crafting friend suggested I join a FB group set up as a card and ATC only making swap group. (For The Love of Cards--it's limited to 25 members and it's not capped out yet, so if interested, come and join the group). In just a short time, Pamela's impressed me with her creative ideas that she morphs into the tiny size ATCs. Here's more about her that she shared with me =

Pamela Hecht: has lived for 20 years in the Upper Michigan Peninsula on an island known for its past copper mining. Pamela and her husband are now retired but are still very busy. They love to travel and collect minerals, fossils, and stones. They still own their breakfast cafĂ© which has a craft market space where she sells her artistic work. Pamela stays active in paper arts, collage, photography, nature jewelry, metalsmithing, encaustic and acrylic painting. Her heart's happy when she can inspire others through her art and also loves to teach others to discover and develop their art skills.

She does not have a blog or Instagram account but is on Facebook and co-owner/administrator of For The Love of Cards group.

Since she's not a blogger, I have permission to show these 2 photos of her more fantastic artistry:

acrylic painting on driftwood

first oil painting created on June 25th at a workshop with Steve Ross, son of famous Bob Ross!!! The session was 6 hours. Pretty amazing, isn't it?!?!!!

Owner/Becca S design inspiration project is a new TN with the 1st spread=

This Scripture passage was day 1 of May suggested Bible writing journaling prompt from FB group CCMWF. The sketch layout is from Lisa H with TN Times May 2022. The usage of washi tape (light blue with white dots) and circles is Lori's requirement with TN Times May 2022. HQCB's requirements of red heart and usage of red just seemed to be a perfect way to connect all these pieces. Credits: Scripture~images.com website for the verse photo image; poppy patterned paper is from the Mint Berry paper pad by The Paper Studio; gray and white checked gingham paper is from Hot Off The Press. Light blue ribbon-like washi tape's packaging was unmarked. TN insert is by Carta Bella/Bloom. More details on my blog.

HQCB REMINDER post for Love Theme #4 to show love for stars

Let's make some people get excited to have some happy mail with this "Love for Stars" theme! It's great for encouragement cards, anniversaries, getting ready for next Valentine's Day, etc. It could even be used for wintery New Year's Day cards.

HQCB's Love Theme #4 REMINDER

that competition closes at 12:30am CST/Chicago or 6:30am UK on June 27th.

Love Theme #4 has 2 required elements:

*use the word love

(can be another language equivalent; in a phrase; or a tense form like loving or loved)

AND

*star(s) --not celebrity stars...the shape symbolizing those in outer space

Inspiration project for the REMINDER posting by HQCB owner Becca S:

using the small size freebie image shared in the original posting; I've been in a mixed media mood lately, so I painted a very quick random zig-zag/chevron blue in 2 rows onto red cardstock that was backed by black cardstock. The small freebie image was printed on white cardstock and had the smallest stars filled with red glitter paint pen. A mid-blue cardstock heart adds another accent with an additional 'love' phrase and doodled border=

Participation submissions can be made on the original/main posting. There are 2 sizes of "Love Stars" freebie images for you to download and use if you want. It's not required but I think the images turned out really well. Use this link to take you there:

HQCB PAST DUE REMINDER POST for Color Heart #4 using dark blue challenge SEE GD card

Failed REMINDER post for HQCB's Color Heart #4 challenge using dark blue

Competition ended early on June 13, 2022. I failed to post this on June 6th.

Theme requirements are:

*use at least 1 dark blue heart shape (sometimes called navy blue or midnight blue)

AND

*use 60-99% of mid-dark blues on the rest of the project

To inspire you to create your own Color Heart #4 projects is this LOVEly card made by Guest Designer Kelly Sullins-Joehrs. Kelly's been an online crafting friend for many years and I'm so heart happy to have her support with HQCB (and FQCB, too)!

Didn't I say it was LOVEly??!!!!

Kelly's a professional real estate broker in Florida and her cards can be seen regularly in lots of groups. Thanks Kelly for this awesome dark blue heart/love card! Isn't that patterned cardstock perfect?!!!

HQCB owner Becca's inspiration project for the reminder posting=

This is my inspiration project #2-- navy blue tag=

The blue border oval tag's middle 'white' line was changed to dark blue with a marker. Same thing with the black and white cording that came with the tags (multi-color edged tags from Hampton Arts). A blue ink pad was used to ink the outside edge of the tag and the cardstocks.  The large heart started out as red and has had 2 different dark blue markers applied to it along with a mid-blue glitter paint pen. The navy blue gingham scrap comes in 6" squares in a 2 different color sets by Hot Off The Press (available from Paper Wishes website). A messy project for the cording and the foam heart makeover but for a small tag, it will look cute hanging from an upper cabinet door knob.

Did you see the V3 or <3 to make a sideways heart?

Please note: I failed to get this posted on June 6th. I did a personal post about my tag, but failed to show Kelly's card. This my fault. My humblest apologies to Kelly.

Surprise! The very blessed talented artisan Karen Letchworth is HQCB Guest Designer for Love Theme #4!!!

My name is Karen Letchworth of My Cup Runneth Over.  I'm a retired wife, mom, and grandma who spends the majority of her spare time in the craft room.  I was excited when Becca invited me to be a Guest Designer here at Heart's Quest Challenge Blog because I know the hard work it takes to start and run a challenge blog.  I want to see Heart's Quest Challenge Blog grow so that everyone can share their creations here.  The theme of LOVE is always inspiring, so we hope you'll be inspired to gather up your supplies and play along with us.

Our cup is running over with blessings with Karen's guest designing!

GD Karen's wonderful interpretation of the theme project=

Karen's cards are always cheerful and encouraging! This Love Star card is adorably sweet and endearing and will certainly bring brightness into someone's life. Thanks, Karen!

Inspiration Project #1 by HQCB owner, Becca S:

Just a bit wider of the most common slimline sized cards I placed a star stencil on white cardstock and stamped with red and blue ink pads then the panel was edged with more red ink. The USA flag's stars were cut from hot dog paper holders found at Dollar Tree!!! YES!! Can you believe that?! The mid-blue tone cardstock is the base 4" x 6". My 2nd card further down the posting uses the large size Love Stars freebie image------->

Two freebie images I created several weeks after selecting this theme which you may download and save in 2 sizes:

"Love Stars Fill the Sky"

I hope you love these as much as I do.

Inspiration project #2 uses the larger Love Stars freebie image=
