and

have dominant usage of orange tones or shades

We are delighted to welcome Lori Barrett Stroup as HQCB Guest Designer for the Color Heart in Orange Challenge #3.

A bit of profile about Lori and where to read details about her charming layout:

Hello! My name is Lori and I am so excited to be a guest designer for this challenge! I live in a small SW Missouri town with my husband, Scott, and we have three adult kids and one spoiled rotten granddaughter. I have been scrapping since 1998 and I love it just as much today as I did when I first started. I love spending time in my scrap room - looking back at all that has happened and preserving those memories. I have been a traditional 12x12 scrapper since the beginning but have also fallen in love with Project Life and working in my traveler's notebooks - my two preferred formats at the moment! I am also a card-maker and a cross-stitcher. You can find my work on my blog - My Happy Life -  and I would love it if you followed me on Instagram - you can find me here - @lori_670.

Inspiration project #1 from Becca: Owl-ways give thanks mixed media/junk journal style 6" square card

A few design notes on card #1: Hampton Arts 2019 assorted color feather tags and also the assorted color oval tags; I added orange glitter paint pen to the upper half of the feather and to the inside border  on the oval tag. The large foam heart was light pink. The same orange glitter paint pen was applied to it and then black pen for the border design. Star and owl stickers are from my stash. Also the gems, cardstocks, adult coloring page section, and an old stamper were old items that I gathered in my quest for orange. On the coloring page section, the orange glitter paint pen was applied only to the stems. 3 different tones of orange markers were used to add color to some of the flower petals and leaves.

This card has lots of tones and shades of orange along with a few touches of pink with some stars and gems as well as a bit of turquoise in a star and the little owl wings.

Inspiration project #2 from yours truly: "keep soaring up"

A few design notes: the printer scanner light faded out the neon orange to a butternut squash and is 6" square. Paper washi tapes are from stash along with the old "HB" stamp and the glitter hearts. Those are a deep red-orange. Orange marker was applied and an orange glitter paint pen. The blue cardstock scraps are stash. And the golden edged moth was found at Dollar Tree (!!) as part of a wall stickers set. I've used 3 hearts and lots of varying tones and shades seen in the moth, hearts, and 2 washi tapes.

Now it's your turn!

What is your heart telling you to create? What is it telling you to search for? Go on a treasure quest amongst your stash supplies. What will you find? GD Lori had baking cupcakes as her heart story. What will be your heart story?

INLINKZ address tool is how to make your entry. Top 3 bragging rights as a Pursuit Achiever is possible. This competition ends in the early hours (at least for me) on May 13, 2022.

INCENTIVES=

==>To build blog followers and participant entries, I will offer a prize to the #5 and #10 entries!!!!

Odds are if you enter the max of 3 times or even enter 2 projects, you might get #5 or #10. Love theme #2 ending April 27th reached its first ever 3rd, 4th, and 5th entries in the days prior, so #5 is getting a prize. I realize starting a new challenge blog takes time to gain 'membership' but it doesn't hurt to have an incentive motivation to help keep the deadline in your thoughts.

2 micro thin decorative tapes in bold vibrant geometric patterning is what I've picked that each gets. Remember #5 and and #10, but there has to be #1-4 and #6-9 in order to reach these stepping stones in building participation. Please tell your crafty friends, especially for those who love to do formats like journaling, TNs, pocket page layouts, etc.

It's very classic)

HQCB Reminder Post Love Theme #2 that started 14 April 2022

 Heart's Quest Love Theme #2

Reminder Post

Competition started April 14, 2022 and will end very early on April 27, 2022

Love Theme #2 requirements:

(1) include heart/love (shape or word 'heart', word 'love' or language equivalents or word forms like loved, loving, amore, etc.)

(2) include the theme of female figure (relative or friend; any age level of female)

There are 2 inspiration projects on the original posting from April 14th. Here is #3. I've used the same Illustrated Faith stamp with the gal having braided hair and showing hearts.

my printer scanner light has faded the base neon bright orange to a butternut squash yellow-orange and the brighter orange glitter paint on the largest heart to a pale peach. "To My Bff" was stamped in a graffiti style text print look. The wavy line patterned paper is a beloved hoarded stash saved for lots of years. I have no idea who it is from. It started as a 12" square and I've only got about a 3"x12" scrap left. :(

My BFF lives about 2-3 hours away and with both of us being the primary caregivers/assistants to our mothers, we haven't been able to see each other in person much. Safeguarding our own health as well as spouses and mothers during the pandemic has become our priority. Sending her some periodic happy mail is one of my ways to keep our friendship going. Can you relate?

Where are you in your life journey? Who have you thought of in crafting a project for Heart's Quest?

Do you have a daughter or niece with a birthday? or graduation? Do you want to create for your sister? or mother-in-law? You get to decide on the female and whatever occasion/sentiment, colors, techniques, layout design, etc.

Paper-crafted and hybrid (combo of digital and paper) formatted projects such as cards/ATCs, bookmarks/tags, journals/TN spreads, or scrapbook layouts are acceptable.

HQCB 14 April 2022 Love Theme #2 with showing heart/love for female friend or relate

HQCB is about showing 'heart love' on your paper-crafted or hybrid creations.

Love Theme #2 is about showing love for a female friend or relative.

Thursday, April 14, 2022 to Wednesday, April 27, 2022

starting and ending times are same= 12:30 am Central Time/Chicago or 6:30 am UK

Love Theme #2 Recipe:

(1) have a heart shape or word or the word love; the word(s) can be a tense or form or language equivalent (Coeur, amore, luv, loving, loved, loves, heartfelt, etc.)--in the future with Love Theme #3 you will just have to have the word 'love' with the chosen theme topic/item.

(2) show an image of a female face or figure, young or old

(3) you determine everything else; acceptable formats are: cards/ATCs, bookmarks/tags, journals/TN spreads, and/or scrapbook layouts.

Hopefully this will draw a larger number of craft artisans to become participants at HQCB.

Two inspiration projects already made for this competition that have hearts and the word heart in the sentiment instead of love. I will have that changed in the reminder post and in Love Theme #3 May 14th.

2nd scan with a 2nd base layer=

1st scan without a 2nd base layer= Do you like the bit of pink margin added in the top photo?

Both of these were made with mint green cardstock base (about 4.50" wide x 5.75" high), Webster Pages' "A New Day" Worldview cardstock background (about 4.25" wide x 5.25" high), Illustrated Faith's gal stamps, and Raisin Boat's globe with sentiment and happy birthday stamps. Pen + Gear for the planner stickers. Pink cardstock final base layer just added 1/4" on each side but I think it helps to visually have just a bit more margin all the way around. What do you think?

2nd scan with a 2nd base layer on version #2=

1st scan without a 2nd base layer on version #2 =

Your turn now to go on that quest! What do you have in your supplies that could work? Do your searching! A girl on a swing? A mom pushing a stroller or baby buggy? A gal holding her coffee or cell phone? Notice the globe image with hearts encircling it at the equator! I definitely fell in love with this stamp! Even the sentiment message states 'miles apart but connected by heart'--another heart worthy addition to my supplies over a year ago when Sum More Fun was closing down.

There are 13 days to participate: April 14-27, 2022. Use the Inlinkz address shown next to enter your project for bragging rights:

HQCB Color Heart Challenge Top 3 Pursuit Achievers for Pink White and Gold Can Not Be Given

Heart's Quest had zero entries for the Color Challenge #2 that had requirements of pink, white and gold for the colors, to have a heart shape or word or the word love, and to be on a bookmark.

Therefore I am going to make some slight changes to the Color competition and to the Love and What? competition.

The 2 types of competitions alternate so in about 75 minutes Love Theme Challenge #3 will be released. From now on, I will refer to it as Love Theme Challenge. I had already made my 2 inspiration projects using hearts and the word heart instead of love, so I'm not going to change that requirement until Love Theme #4. In the future, your HQCB project for the Love Theme will have to show the word love and have at least 1 of the announced theme topic. (rules in the sidebar have already been updated this week)

Projects for HQCB can be any of these: cards/ATCs, bookmarks/tags, journals/TN spreads, and/or scrapbook layouts!!! You will get to select your format instead of me putting it as a recipe ingredient.

Color Challenge will now be known as Color Heart Challenge and starting with #3 your project will need to show a heart in the specified color as well as have that color as the majority color on whatever format you select.

When creating this competition blog and its name, my thoughts were focused on wanting to see paper-crafted (or hybrid) projects that had hearts or love on them. This challenge blog is also called Heart's Quest. Our crafting hearts need to be on a quest/search for love. I hope this allows for a more diverse range of craft artisans to partake in the competitions at HQCB!

Go on a quest for Color Heart Challenge #3 that will be released at 12:30 am central time/Chicago on Thursday, April 14, 2022!!!

HQCB Reminder Post Color Challenge #2 ending 13 April 2022

Color #2 Challenge Reminder

Competition started March 28, 2022 at 12:30 am Central Time/Chicago and will end on April 13, 2022 at 12:30 am Central Time/Chicago (6:30 am UK).

My heart and soul are so happy creatively with this venture of mine into paper-crafting challenge blogs! I can't believe that's it's about halfway through the 13 days of competition for the 2nd color-based challenge at Heart's Quest Challenge Blog

Here are the important details of the recipe to follow: (1) color trio to use is pink, white, and gold; nothing else...try really really hard, please!; (2) because this is called Heart's Quest, I need to see a heart shape or word or the word 'love'; and (3) the paper-crafting format is bookmark.

I made a "HB" themed bookmark that will either go to a niece or her mother, my sister-in-law, who have birthdays 4 days apart. The floral paper is from The Paper Studio. The acrylic overlay is from Webster Pages, I think. It has diagonal white lines and the word 'today'. The little cut-apart square is Webster Pages or My Mind's Eye. The white with pink tonal watercolor tag is from American Crafts. Other items are from different stash boxes. Look closely at the ribbon, too. It started as white sheer. I added pink marker on top to give it a tie-dyed, watercolor look and then I added some gold metallic paint pen dots and streaks. (The base for the bookmark looks like a light salmon pink that the scanner bleached out. It's more like cotton candy pink in person.)

TODAY--Write your own story bookmark:

LOOK at what's under the tag! With the tag and overlay just being held by the gold arrow paperclip, I thought if these get moved around a bit, it would be darling to see more of the gorgeous floral paper and the heart cut-out. SURPRISE!

Did you see the two alpha stickers in gold? "HB" are near the bottom with a gold gem on each side. Lots of little details for eyes to find!

What's in your stash? I had to do some sifting and sorting for this bookmark but within an hour or so it was complete. The 'home shopping spree' took at least 15 minutes or more. It helped that the overlay was already cut out from the larger 12" square that it was a part of and the same for the little cut card. The tag just had to have the little cut card adhered to it and then the pink glitter foam heart added to the overlay. Cutting out the center heart of the doily didn't take too long. I just needed to go slow and steady. Measuring the cardstock for the base and background floral paper took about 5 minutes. Coloring the ribbon was done about halfway through the process to give it drying time. Final touches and voila!

<3  *  <3  *  <3  *  <3  *  <3  *

If you haven't participated yet, please take time to do that. Go on your own quest and see what your search yields!

This is the link for the original Color #2 challenge posting and it will have the Inlinkz address for submitting your entry.
